Hidden God

I heard a hidden God within,

Whisper in solemnity

"The hour's late you must begin,

Undo your life's infirmity,

Reveal the truth of your descent,

Cast off the mould of mental plan

Awake to the divine event

Leap from man to superman."

In the intervening years

As aspiration's fire burned

I laid aside old dreams and fears

And though the Nemesis returned

And tried to slay I held Her smile,

Recalled Her eyes who held my soul

To the inner Self resile,

The body turn to its control.

Surely we shall conquer night

And set the spark of soul alight.
